PLASMON
Kores in association with Plasmon has introduced in India Digital Archival Solutions. A series of seminars were conducted from the 4th June 2007 to 15th June 2007 at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. These seminars were conducted through the Computer Society of India. Country's leading CIOs / CTOs took part in these seminars, which were highlighting, perhaps for the first time in India, the need for an archival strategy in digital storage management.
In Storage management today, unfortunately, the only issue addressed is that of back up of data and to a large extent archiving is not even thought of. This is in spite of the fact that in any organization almost 80% of the data is static. Therefore, the systems and hardware that are used are also not suited to retain the essential data for a long period of time authentically and also at comparatively low cost of ownership.
Plasmon has today the patented UDO (Ultra Density Optical) technology which provides a very stable and cost effectice solution as compared to seemingly cheaper magnetic disks and tapes. UDO is a non volatile and true WORM media. This is also a removable media. All these qualities put together, it is also ideal for disaster recovery.
During the seminars, Plasmon has introduced to the Indian market their Archive Appliance, which uses the unique hybrid architecture, which leverages the strength of high performing magnetic disks and the longevity and authenticity of UDO. This is an integrated backup and archive solution. It offers tremendous efficiency gains and cost savings. The UDO archival product family supports the entry level to enterprise storage ranging in capacity from 1 TB to over 76 TB in a single configuration.
Kores, the largest office products company in the country has been in the banking and office automation field since 1985.
